What To Know
What is Legionella?
Legionella bacteria can cause severe health conditions including the potentially fatal Legionnaires’ disease. It can affect anybody, but some people are at higher risk including those over 45, smokers and heavy drinkers, those suffering from chronic respiratory or kidney disease, and people whose immune system is impaired.
Do I require a Legionella Assessment?
In the UK every business, regardless of size, is legally required to conduct a legionella risk assessment to identify potential issues. This applies to all landlords and business owners. You have a responsibility to ensure all legislation and regulations relating to Legionella bacteria, in particular the Health & Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) are adhered to.
